    There's a huge difference between writing a script that works for me and my team to do someshit several times, that's uncommented and undocumented and writing actually functioning program, with some sort of version control and test cases, that's idiotproof and it's fit for production environment for multiple customers and wont break in two weeks

    If that's the case, if you know basics of any programming language, you can probably skip the books and keep working on games in engine of your choice. Actual hands on work > any theory you can get. AND most likely any concept you might need will come up while googling for issues you're having at the moment with thing you want to implement
