CDXtract was able to read the .bin file directly and it had the same S2

But maybe it's some sort of homebrew conversion.

AFAIK the original Ultimate Piano Collection was made specifically for the original GigaSampler, I have no idea if these AKAI versions are even official given how the Volume 2 has no mention of the S3000

Have you checked that the audio for the samples is actually fine. If anything is slightly wrong, that would probably be the easiest way to figure it out.

I really don't get how the mode ended up being wrong like that in the cue file.

After that, try extracting the tracks into ISO files.

.cue files are just plaintext files. Just open it with any basic text editor and change MODE2 to MODE1.

(or not, it does see the .bin)

If you can tell me what I need to do on my end I'll gladly do it, not gonna make you reupload the entire thing (I think HALion only works with ISOs though)

But I'm diffing the ISOs I got just in case.

Changing "MODE2" to "MODE1" in the cue sheet seems to fix it.

Fixing it by hand would be trivial, just insert the missing bytes at the start of the file. I've tried messing both with the first 16 bytes of the bin and with the Cue sheet.

Even Awave refuses to open it (though it also refused to open one of the Roland L-CDX CDs and in that case CDXtract worked just fine)

Can it be fixed somehow?

I think I kind of know what's going on. The data within the bin looks mostly fine (I think it's an S3000 disk image); but when using bchunk to part it out into ISOs, it's missing the first 8 bytes. I think there's something slightly wrong with either the cue or the first few bytes of the bin. I'll have to look into exactly how bin+cue images work.

Just as I posted that it decided to work.

(and HALion so far is my sampler of choice because I'm not touching Kontakt and I don't want to deal with iLok shenanigans for EW Opus either)

I'm trying to build a small AIO MIDI box with a SBC, something that I can bring with me outside without being tempted to carry around the macbook + OWC RAID enclosure setup with EW Opus

(and with open I mean there's an option to convert the entire disk)

HALion can open the converted vol2 and the vol1 from internet archive just fine but the latter is incomplete

Would really appreciate the help, I tried doing it via CDXtract but again after a while it slows down to a crawl and I have no idea why, maybe it's my Windows VM's fault.

bchunk has worked very well for me in the past

I also tried to convert it to ISO (it's a bin+cue disk) but so far like 5 different utilities failed to do so

CDXtracts just slows down to a crawl for some reason

There's a more complete version of East West Ultimate Piano Collection vol1 on rutracker
but I can't tell which of the 4903220 AKAI formats it is, it quite literally only opens with CDXtract (and not Awave even when mounted via 4932539 virtual drives), I've been trying to get HALion to open it but no luck (vol 2 works fine after converting it from nrg and the less complete copy of vol1 works fine)
If anyone can get to the bottom of this that'd be great
