Not sure what mode 2 would have to do with skipping the first 8 bytes, however.

Essentially, mixing CD-ROM and CD-DA tracks in a single CD.

I'm not sure. I think it's something to do with CD-XA.

I think the last time I did it was to burn a copy of SSBB to a DL DVD for some reason

  • N (Guest) Notxeraser:
with that said I haven't burned a CD in well over a decade

What's Mode 2 used for anyway? Never gave it a single thought

Anyway, the AKAI stuff itself does not look particularly wrong. If anything, I guess something went wrong when ripping it; but it's really strange that it would result in a cue file with the wrong track type.

Yeah forgot to mention it was an iso

  • A (Guest) anon:
    Yup.

  • A (Guest) anon:
You are right that the archive.org one was smaller. It also was an ISO, and not a bin+cue.

  • N (Guest) Notxeraser:
The archive.org one should be a little over 200mb

I don't know, I have three or four versions I got from different places.

  • N (Guest) Notxeraser:
Seems to have less programs too

If the archive.org version is the one I think it is, it's exactly the same as the rutracker one.
    it's half the size

  • A (Guest) anon:
And it looks like it's also the same as the magesy one, too.

  • N (Guest) Notxeraser:
Guess it was just a very sloppy conversion job to get it to fit on an AKAI CD

  • N (Guest) Notxeraser:
Oh no the iso is fine, thanks for that
    Quote Link
  • A (Guest) anon:
If it works for you, I guess it's fine. It really did not look to me like there was anything wrong with the ISO, after the track mode change.

G-player under logic (at least 2.0) is buggy as all hell

  • N (Guest) Notxeraser:
I did try to convert the version from archive.org to something more usable like GIGA (played by g-player or by exs24) but that went horribly wrong

  • N (Guest) Notxeraser:
Wasn't in my plans but might as well

  • N (Guest) Notxeraser:
Oh yeah it works there now, I didn't use awave because it doesn't really have any useful formats for what I'm trying to do right now (though at this point I might as well get to work and Frankenstein an XS/XF version of this library)
    Quote Link
  • A (Guest) anon:
It sees the programs and samples just fine.

  • A (Guest) anon:
It's actually working for me with the free Awave trial.

although i have to do that on the XF anyway lmao

This is the one reason why I'm never getting a vintage sampler, I really don't want to pick what gets loaded and what doesn't

  • Xeraser @ Xeraser:
The volume 2 ones seem to work but they're even more broken up

  • Xeraser @ Xeraser:
man this sucks lmao I wish I had the original GIGA version

  • Xeraser @ Xeraser:
    It only
contains a Fazioli and a Steinway C for some reason

Forgot what I used to convert it back to ISO though

    Yep that one

Hold on, I'm trying the other one

  • A (Guest) anon:
It should be called "FAZ.LOUD 32S".

  • A (Guest) anon:
At least the first one from the first partition's S1000 volume.

  • A (Guest) anon:
The programs look fine to me.

  • Xeraser @ Xeraser:
Starting to think this might be a sloppy conversion job
    Quote Link
  • A (Guest) anon:
That's for the first partition. I'll take a look at the programs themselves.
    Quote Link
  • A (Guest) anon:
The S1000 volume contains 11 programs and a bunch of samples. The S3000 volume contains 11 programs (which I assume are S3000 versions of the same programs) and no samples (the S3000 programs probably point to the S1000 samples).

  • Xeraser @ Xeraser:
    Some have empty key ranges

  • Xeraser @ Xeraser:
Some programs work, some don't even though judging from the inspector they look fine

    So there's something wrong.

None of those programs have a size of 0.

    volume*
    Quote Link
  • A (Guest) anon:
And the S1000 volumes contains a couple of S1000 programs and a bunch of samples.
    Quote Link
  • A (Guest) anon:
After inspecting the first partition manually, it seems it should contain 2 volumes. The first one should be an S1000 volume, the second one an S3000 one.
