"Boomer Shooter" is a term for grifters. If we're talking about doom mods, take the time to learn and play Hideous Destructor. As for "Brutal Doom" and its derivatives, they are NOT boomshoot and they have nothing to do with boomshoot. Actually, they're ZOOMERSHOOTERS for their excessive, annoyingly overstimulating audiovisuals and 2 billion sprites per action bloat tailored towards fried zoomzoom brains. Most of the forks aren't even worth playing, except for Schism which wouldn't suck as much if it DIDN'T have guns. You can play as basically conan the barbarian, a MELEE class. Except he also constantly picks up the fucking guns the enemies drop, with overlapping inventory slots of course, so have fun clicking 3 a billion times to get to your actual sword that you WANNA use and not the eight different shotgun variants.

All these nu-retro shitlogs are not and will never be boomshoot. No, anything made after the year 1997 isn't. The 'genre' was perfected by Blood and died with Blood. The next closest contenders are Shadow Warrior, Quake I, and THEN Doom II.

Oh i fucking played hideous destructor alot in my time, heard about it when it was a video from a 4chan /vr/ bro who also gave away some places to play Dewm and Quake.
It's the closest to torching your balls with a flamethrower blindfolded with your hands ziptied to a tree.

It's not even that hard once you get the hang of it (maybe on the third sitting). I got my otouto into it and we had many many lan parties back in the day... What I like most about it is the manual gun handling. You have to right click to pull back and release the bolt, or to pump your shotgun, and you have to manually load magazines round by round, and so on. I usually play without any automatic sight view/crosshair, so I hold C or middle mouse to aim down sights.

Yeah it's just that a nu-doomer would get blindsided by that, though i did get a feel for some of the things.
But the pinkies would fuck anyone up if they're new to playing HD before.
One moment you're clearing a room leaning and suddenly getting a can of whoopass by a zombie you've downed and not realizing it until later.

People have already said it, but Brutal Doom + Bullet time are great especially the guy's Extermination Campaign, it's an entirely different game but hella fun. He's working on a complete game called Project Brutality, but that's probably never going to release at this rate.
