i guess the best advice i can give from all my time spent writing music is this;
have fun, experiment, and try not to think too hard about what you're doing. music production was infinitely more fun for me before i knew all the ins and outs and technical knowledge that i know about production, mixing, etc. try to limit the number of plugins you have in your arsenal, and the amount of sample packs you pull from. otherwise you just wind up sitting there for two hours throwing random shit at the wall and hoping it sticks, and you keep changing samples n shit because you always find something you like better. setting up your own unique environment and style can rly help with that, like selecting a few staple sample packs you always pull from, only having a couple different EQs, etc. just have fun and try not to think about all the technical shit. it was a hurdle that i took over 6-7 years to overcome, because i was just constantly scrolling through my samples or abandoning projects bc i'd sit there for 3 hours mixing and adding arbitrary trash to 30 second loops that i wound up ultimately not liking. failing to write the perfect chord progression or mirror whatevers in your head always feels like shit, but never as shitty as being stuck in a hole where you can't write fuck all because you're giving yourself way too many options in terms of plugins and all that nonsense
